Trophy for the Champion Open Red Wine
A coverted award, won by this excellent value Central Otago Pinot Noir.
Just one of the Three Trophies that Peregrine picked up at the 2019 NZ wine of the year awards
Congratulations to Annie and James Milton. Last night at the New Zealand Wine of the Year Dinner, James and Annie Millton were inducted as Fellows of NZ Winegrowers, for 35 years of industry pioneering, particularly in relation to organics and bio-dynamics. To celebrate, we have a mixed case of three of their outstanding white wines - Congrats James and Annie!
Trophy for the top Sparkling wine
And Trophy for the top wine from Gisborne
This new limited edition wine is a 2017 vintage wine that is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It has a fine structure and finesse.
Trophy for the Top Riesling
This is a luscious off dry Riesling, made in a German Spatlese style. It is simply delicious.
This off-dry Riesling is outstanding value. Florals, lime and mandarin notes are nudged by a flick of spice, the sustained fruit characters balanced by a twist of mineral. Delicately restrained, with a good structure and nicely balanced acidity.
The New Zealand Wine of the Year Awards is the official national wine competition of the New Zealand wine industry, run by New Zealand Wine Growers.
The name and the format of this competition new from 2018. New Zealand Wine Growers have for many years run two wine competitions, the larger of the two being the Wine Awards sponsored by Air New Zealand, you'll know them as the Air New Zealand Wine Awards and smaller being the Bragato Wine Awards. The Bragato show a competition that championed the grower and single vineyard wines. These two shows have been merged together to make one pinnacle competition for the New Zealand Wine Industry.
Church Road Grand Reserve Chardonnay has won again.
In just the last 3 weeks that's 3 Trophies and 4 Gold Medals. This wine is laden with praise that no doubt will see it sell out.
Exceptional New Zealand Chardonnay. Fruit flavours are complemented by subtle oak nuances and a silky, textural mouthfeel that is balanced with a lingering, mineral-infused finish.
