Bordeaux Imported direct by us to you

Glengarry are market leaders in Bordeaux, in terms of range, volume and expertise.

Reinforced by its imposing chateaux, the aristocratic Bordeaux holds court at the centre of France's vinous universe. It is indeed the largest AOC area in France, with a staggering 86,000ha of vineyard plantings and around 60 million cases produced annually. When combined with the peerless pedigree of the world famous reds, the whites of Graves and the seductive Sauternes make this a region you cannot ignore.

Petit Chateau are amoung some of the best value wines in the world, drawing on all that expertise and skill used in the region, in good and great vintages, these are very hard to go past.

Here are four mixed cases, starting from Petit Chateau and heading through to Classified growths. You may wish to buy the bottles separately, they are all listed below the cases.

MORE INFO
Ha ha! Just when you thought you’d got your head around the 1855 Classification of Bordeaux, and first growths and whatnot, we now throw ‘Petits Chateaux’ (Little Castles) into the mix. A quick explanation, then.
The literally thousands of properties that can’t claim cru kudos more often than not provide excellent claret expressions, without the hype and, therefore, without the price. Once you know your producers and their reputation (which, because it’s our job, we do) you can bag some gorgeous wines without killing your credit rating.
Jancis Robinson MW says it well: ‘Some of Bordeaux’s best wine value is to be found at the most conscientious Petits Châteaux.’

Once you have tasted a few of these superb expressions, you’ll concur that referring to them as ‘second wines’ could come across as a little miserly. The concept of second wines was initially created to improve the quality of the top wines by isolating the finest fruit, with the little brothers invariably produced from the estate’s younger vines. Nowadays, thanks to a great deal of concentrated effort, these second wines are more an early-drinking expression of the top wine rather than a ‘second wine’ with the drop in quality that title implies.

In general terms, the left bank is home to Cabernet driven wines. The appellations on the left bank include Margaux, Pauillac, St.-Julien and St.-Estèphe. The Left Bank - 15% of the production in Bordeaux is from this area. Red wines are made predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
