Sparkling
The word sparkling can encompass any wine with bubbles in it. On this page we include both sparkling méthode (tank fermentation) and méthode traditionélle or champenoise (traditional bottle fermentation). We tend to call our wines 'sparkling' if it falls outside the criteria for champagne. Some well known sparklers are German Sekt, Spanish Cava, Italian Spumante and French Crémant. We are now seeing sparkling shiraz, sauvignon blanc and riesling on the market too; great options for Summer sipping. Style characteristics: Wide ranging dependent on wine.
