The estate's Cuvee Tradition, drawn from around 40 parcels across the appellation with vines averaging 45 to 50 years old, on clay limestone soil scattered with rounded pebbles that store the day's heat and release it to the vines overnight. A pretty purple red colour with bright highlights. The nose develops aromas of small red berries, and the palate is ample, silky and velvety. Vinification is traditional, in temperature controlled concrete vats with cold pre-fermentation maceration, pigeage, delestage and remontage over 28 to 35 days, before ageing in foudres, demi-muids and tank. The Boiron family has run this estate, originally Clos Chantemerle, since 1860, six generations in.
