Glenfiddich means 'Valley of the deer', if you hadn't picked up the antlers on the bottle; the perfect stag night dram? The whisky that introduced the world to the pleasures of single malt, this accessible dram first flowed forth on Christmas Day, 1887. The distillery is unique in that it bottles in situ, from a single water source, while the liquid itself sings its Speyside provenance proudly; pear drops and citrus dominate the nose, while the palate is initially drying before the cereal/toasty notes emerge, tinted with honey and touched with heather flowers.
