Bara epitomizes all that is wonderful about old world, hand-crafted Champagne. Their vineyards are all in the village of Bouzy rated 100% Grand Cru; the bottles are all processed one at a time, using techniques developed over 100 years ago; the wines are seamless, at once delicate, and at the same time powerful. There’s simply nothing to compare them to. His Prestige cuvee, the Comtesse Marie de France was named for the daughter of Éléonore d Aquitaine, and created in 1968 initially as a special cuvée for the restaurant Chez Denis in Paris. He is the great specialist of Bouzy and this wine is the best of the village, 100% Pinot Noir from his oldest vines, aged in bottle for 10 years before release, with a low dosage of 6-7g/L. Full bodied and velvety with ample richness, but also an unusual refinement and finesse.
