Solaia

Ruby red, with the classic Cabernet Sauvignon character that defines this wine. Smooth on the palate with velvety tannins, notes of coffee, chocolate, mint and liquorice, and real finesse, structure and ageing potential. The 2009 season began with a cold, wet autumn and winter that built good water reserves, followed by a mild spring with no return of winter cold and a regular bud break. As with every vintage, the wine was fermented in the estate's gravity fed vats, underwent malolactic fermentation in barrique, and was aged in new French oak with the lots blended part way through ageing before returning to barrel to finish.
