La Matinale Brut Nature Vintage
The summer of 2003 in Europe was particularly scorching. To preserve the acidity of the fruit, grapes were harvested at the crack of dawn, hence the name of this wine: La Matinale (Early). It has the freshness of the early morning. From old vines in the Marne Valley with an average age of 45 years. 45% Pinot Noir, 28% Chardonnay and 27% Pinot Meunier. First fermentation in oak barrels with no malolactic fermentation. Disgorged in 2014 after 10 years on the lees with zero dosage.
93/100 | Antonio Gallonio; “The 2003 La Matinale is gorgeous. Apricot pit, peach, smoke, honey, wild flowers and mint are all super-expressive. The 2003 is rich, voluptuous and powerful, with magnificent purity and compelling overall balance. This is one of several 2003s where Tarlant simply nailed it.”
