Saint-Estephe

Neighbour to Chateau Calon-Segur, on one of the Medoc's highest points overlooking the Gironde estuary, with an 18th century underground cellar among the oldest in the Medoc. A brilliant colour with fresh fruit, blackberry, blackcurrant and liquorice on the nose, a mellow attack developing into soft, dense tannins with good persistence and no rusticity on the finish. Roughly 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, fermented three to four weeks in temperature controlled steel, aged 12 to 14 months in French oak, 40 to 50% new. Good with red or white meat, joints, mutton, poultry and game.
