Allan Scott Family Winemakers is, at heart, a family story—grounded in Marlborough but always open to new ideas and ways of doing things. From the beginning, the Scotts have believed in hard work, care, and standing behind every bottle that bears their name. The cellars have grown from small beginnings to a creative, lively place where tradition and innovation go hand in hand, and each wine tells a chapter of the family story. Josh and Sara now build on Allan and Catherine’s foundation with their own sense of adventure, a passion for sustainability and a drive to keep learning. Each bottle is proudly made to be shared among friends and family, full of personality, honesty and a taste of home.

The Scott family’s wines are a true reflection of Marlborough. Based on Jacksons Road in the heart of the region’s “golden mile,” Allan Scott vineyards are spread across some of Marlborough’s best spots, especially the Rapaura subregion in the Wairau Valley, where stony soils and cool nights help create vibrant, aromatic wines. Everything starts with the land. Vineyard blocks are matched to the varieties that suit them best, with hands-on attention and a genuine respect for the environment running through all that they do. With each site, Josh, Sara and the team aim to bring out the special character of the vineyards—and it shows in every glass, whether it’s classic Sauvignon Blanc, expressive Pinot Noir or traditional method sparkling.

Allan Scott

Allan Scott is one of the true pioneers of Marlborough wine. He planted the region’s first vineyards back in 1973 and has been hands-on through every harvest since. From his early days working with Montana and guiding vineyard development at Corbans, Allan became known for his practical know-how and “get stuck in” approach. In 1990, Allan and his wife Catherine struck out on their own and founded Allan Scott Family Winemakers, one of the region’s first independent wineries. These days, the Scott story is a real family affair, with Josh and Sara—who grew up around the vines and barrels—now leading the next chapter, bringing their energy, fresh ideas and deep connection to the land into every vintage.
