A cultural melting pot. As you walk through Mount Eden you see small local galleries, trendy café’s, vintage clothing stores, and affordable Asian fusion and Middle Eastern cuisine. Our Mount Eden store resides at 417 Mount Eden Road where all the action is.
Tonight you are the master of your own fate as we diverge from our traditional ways and explore the spicy and bitterness of the Negroni. In a deconstructed style, we will taste two examples of Vermouth Rouge, Gin, and three Amaros, before the grand finale, coming up with our favourite Negroni style! So hold the lemon, bring forth the orange peel, and prepare to head home with a new favourite concoction as the countdown to Spring begins!
Make 2022 the year you explore something new! Over the next few months, as we approach the festive season we will explore the diverse nature of Sparkling Wine, in September we taste the power of terroir exploring various method tradionalles from around the world, in October we pay homage to the influence Reserve wine plays before the Grand finale – a night in November dedicated to Champagne! But first, let’s get to know the difference between Charmart and Method traditionalle, explore the bruts, the Rose, touch on the influence of terroir, even dive your senses into a Pet Nat! Call it Sparkling 101, Delicious, or simply a great way to spend a Thursday evening,we look forward to seeing you there.
Over the last thirty years, the Glengarry Wine Academy has established itself as one of the leading wine educators in New Zealand. Initially created to train Glengarry staff, it is also widely used by the hospitality industry and wine enthusiasts. Informative, but never intimidating, the Glengarry Wine Academy courses are an opportunity for beginners as well as experienced aficionados to expand their knowledge and develop their interest. This four week course is the second in the series and follows from Wine Academy Stage I. Stage Two will look closely at grape varieties and their interpretations from around the world with a major focus on tastings. All wines are premium to super premium in nature. It is recommended that participants have completed Wine Academy Stage I (or similar course) before embarking on Wine Academy Stage II. Bordeaux is one of the world’s greatest wine regions. Situated on the western Atlantic coast of France, this area has produced the finest Cabernet and Merlot based wines for hundreds of years. If you've always been interested in learning more about Bordeaux, this is the perfect evening to come and join us. We'll take you through everything you need to get started: Some of the history, difference between the areas, varieties, vintages, how to select and purchase, how to store, age, and drink them.
Terroir is a term that encompasses a sense of place, including unchangeable attributes like the Weather or Terrain to historically earn factors like tradition. Tonight we will explore regions from around the World, tasting the influence climate and tradition can have on the art of Methode traditionalle. New Zealand, as a country is still an infant compared to the wine producers of Europe, but our location on the World makes up for our otherwise lack of tradition, so naturally the first half of tonight will be tasting wines from our key regions, Marlborough and Central Otago, before we venture of to Europe and taste the greats from Franciacorta, the sun-baked Penedes, and the chalky soils of Kent

A four week course | Wednesday 28th September, Wednesday 5th October, Wednesday 12th October and Wednesday 19th October. The course fee and content covers all four weeks.
Part of the charm of Gin is its endless variety. Through experimentation (and a lot of tasting) we see Gins that not only change in aroma but also in colour! Through the use of various herbs, florals and fruit that can alter the colour, we can also taste a change in flavour, texture, and style often requiring a different approach from tonic. So tonight, accompanied with a broad array of mixers and garnishes, partake in the experimentations, eliminate the guess work, and embrace your inner alchemist, as you explore the wondrous potential of colourful gins.
If all the World’s a stage then Gin is its leading star. But today we take away the theatrics and embark on a global journey, sampling the styles of an ol’ traditional from different countries. See how the locals manipulate their water, utilise various grains, botanicals, be entice by their terroir and yet pay homage to Gin origins. This is not just a night for Gin traditionalist, but a night for anyone who loves our global diversity.
