The calcareous-sandy, east facing hill of San Ponzio, which averages 700 ft. high is located in the Roero zone of Piemonte. This wine is named after what is considered to be one of the oldest alfresco paintings of Saint Ponzio, that is housed in a small church located at the top of the hill. This is a single-vineyard Nebbiolo. While it falls outside the classification for Barolo, this is treated by Gagliardo as a single vineyard Barolo cru. Aged 18 months in a single 35hl cask. A beautiful San Ponzio, ethereal and deep.
