The vineyard of “Mocque Tonneau” in Celles-lés-Condé lies at the junction of the Dhuys and Surmelin rivers, a favourite spot of the Royal court. Louis Tarlant planted 100% Pinot Noir on these vast sunny slopes from where La Vigne Royale (The Royal Vine) is now made. The Pinot Noir is vinified in 4-wine oak barrels, barrel fermented with the lees regularly stirred back into the wine. Disgorged manually from 2016 with 1.7g/L dosage. Just 24 bottles for New Zealand.
94/100 | Antonio Gallonio; “The combination of the warm year and fermentation in barrel result in a rich, textured wine built on volume. Candied apricot, lightly honeyed notes, spices, crushed flowers and herbs blossom in the glass, with the richness of the vintage tempered by the extra-brut style. Rich, vinous and beautifully textured in the glass, the 2003 impresses for its impeccable balance and total class.”
