Amphora Gamay Noir

This Gamay Noir suits those after a lighter style of red, soft on the palate with fresh strawberries, redcurrants, bramble and small, fine tannins, its freshness and delicacy shaped by time in contact with clay amphora. The fruit comes from the exceptional Two Terraces vineyard in the Mangatahi Terraces, Hawke's Bay, grown by Ian and Linda Quinn. Drawing on time spent working in Beaujolais, the winemaker used carbonic maceration on whole grape bunches, with the remaining fruit destemmed and left untouched during fermentation, before the wine was pressed off into a tinaja for ageing. No additions were made at any stage, and the wine is unfiltered and unfined.
