YELLOWGLEN

The name YELLOWGLEN was given to the winery after a gold mine was discovered in the middle of the original vineyard at Smythesdale, 18km south west of Ballarat, Australia. Due to demand, YELLOWGLEN sparkling wines are now produced from quality vineyards across Australia and are bottled at Bilyara in South Australia.

The major source of grapes for Perle is the Adelaide Hills, but we also have a strong focus on the cool climate regions of Victoria (Drumborg, Yarra Valley and Mornington Peninsula).

Charles Hargrave

Charles “Chilly” Hargrave is the man in charge of the winemaking team behind Yellowglen’s popular sparkling wines. He is passionate about sparkling wine and has been since his love affair with the bubbles began in 1978 when he graduated from the famous Roseworthy winemaking degree in South Australia. As Yellowglen’s Chief Winemaker since 1999, Chilly has overseen the style and development of Yellowglen’s wines – from the fresh fruit and everyday enjoyment of Yellow and Pink to the highly awarded Vintage Perle.

Chilly has a wealth of experience and knowledge about Australian sparkling wines. Under Chilly’s care, the Yellowglen brand has risen to dizzying heights as Australia’s most popular and instantly recognisable sparkling wine. In his 'spare' time, Chilly enjoys spending time with his wife & family, gardening, cooking and of course drinking sparkling wines.
