TUA MARINA VINEYARDS
At Tua Marina Vineyards we craft Arneis in harmony with nature and with minimal intervention in the winery. Our vineyard has been certified organic from harvest 2014 and the wines from vintage 2016. All canopy management, fruit thinning and harvest is done by hand. We pick the pretty orange-yellow Arneis grapes once the flavours have fully developed. After whole bunch pressing indigenous yeasts take over and ferment the precious juice into wine. Fermentation takes place in a combination of small stainless tanks and seasoned oak barrels. Lees stirring and ageing in the oak barrels contribute to the wine's complexity and mouth feel. We embrace vintage variations to express terroir and different seasons.Tua Marina Vineyards Arneis is a fresh and aromatic white wine with a dry, complex texture and nutty phenolics. Look for fruity flavours such as citrus, stone fruit and pear. You may detect floral aromas with a hint of herbal fennel and aniseed. It finishes dry with almonds and hazelnuts characters. Arneis is an old grape variety from Piedmont, a region in North-Western Italy.
The owners of Tua Marina Vineyards are involved in every aspect of crafting our Arneis wine. Lex, our viticulturist, is a former chef who introduced Mediterranean food to Australian and New Zealand customers. Franzi gained experience in marketing and became passionate about organics in Switzerland. She made New Zealand her home in 2000 and is our winemaker, marketing & sales manager. We like Italy and we like Italian food. We like creating a wine we can enjoy and share with friends.
