SPROUT

SPROUT is the next exciting chapter to unfold in the remarkable story that is Kim Crawford, beginning with a sustainably grown and SWNZ accredited Pinot Gris. The grapes for this wine come from vineyards in the Lower Dashwood area of the Awatere Valley in Marlborough. SPROUT Pinot Gris vines grow in vineyards at 150 m elevation, where six inches of top soil covers a layer of tight clay below. This means the vigour of the vines can be easily managed by water. The vines are very exposed, and struggle with the wind, producing very small berries with intense aromas and flavours. The grapes were harvested in March 2014, yielding two tonnes per hectare.
