When Louis Moritz arrived in Barcelona in 1851, he brought with him the art of 'brassage' - beer making - from his native Alsace. Moritz was one of the Catalonian beer pioneers. The brew recipe he brought with him from Alsace was shared down the generations. Mortiz beer is crafted using water from the Font d’Or in the Montseny-Guilleries and hops from Saaz in the Czech Republic.
