Surrounding South Africa's legendary Table Mountain is a place of lush fertility and natural beauty. This is the home of Kumala, where we make quality wines that are full of character. It's a place where you could be forgiven for thinking time stands still. We are fortunate enough to be able to source the best available fruits from Kumala growers dotted all over the five main regions of South Africa's wine producing land. Our growers' vineyards are located all over the Western Cape from Olifants River, through Paarl and Stellenbosch to Worcester.

Collaborating closely with our winemaking team, our growers quietly wait, watch and work the individual grape varietals to ensure they benefit from the right amount of sunshine and water before getting picked at the optimum time. After all, quality winemaking is something that just cannot be rushed.

Ben Jordaan

Ben Jordaan has a love of wine that began when his father introduced him to wine at the dinner table. Since then he has practised and acquired an amazing sense of taste and smell. This, together with wine maker qualifications, including a degree in viticulture and oenology from the University of Stellenbosch, makes Ben an astounding talent in wine production. Following graduation, Ben has travelled widely as a wine maker and gained a huge amount of experience working in many of the major wine-producing regions of the world.

He's also a caring and devoted husband who likes nothing more than cooking a delicious meal for his wife and friends.

"I spend a lot of weekends having friends over. Like me, they can’t resist a thick marinated steak or fresh crayfish grilled on the 'Braai' or barbecue. I love serving it with a glass of Kumala Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz or Kumala Sauvignon Semillon. Perfect!"
