ANCHORAGE FAMILY ESTATE

Anchorage Family Estates is a family owned grape growing and wine producing company, based in the scenic Tasman district of New Zealand, on the outskirts of Motueka. Situated beside the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park, this area boasts New Zealand's highest sunshine hours, perfect for producing quality wines.Established by the pioneering Drummond family at the dawn of the new millennium, Anchorage’s first grapes were planted in the spring of 2000 in rich river loam beside the mouth of the Motueka River. Renowned for brown trout and providing irrigation water, the Motueka River has longbeen the lifeblood of the regions plentiful horticulture crops. Now it also ensures fertile nutrient-rich soils, gentle breezes and smooth round river stones to soak up the sunshine and radiate warmth on the growing vines.Pioneers in horticulture and agriculture in the region since the 1880’s, the knowledge gained by the Drummond family has been passed down from generation to generation and is now used to produce their award winning wines. In 2006 Anchorage planted 22 hectares on Moutere clay soils in Flett Road, to add a further dimension to their rich river loam vineyards of Motueka and Riwaka. Anchorage now has 50 hectares of vineyards over the region. The Anchorage label was initiated in 2003 and is growing every year.
