93+/100 | Ian D’Agata; "Vivid golden-tinged yellow. The still closed nose hints at aromas of lime, white flowers, minerals and brown sugar. Clean and fresh; bright, harmonious acidity lifts the rich pomaceous fruit and sweet spice flavors. Finishes long, with suggestions of lemongrass and crystallized ginger, plus licorice and spice notes typical of the Brand. Much bigger, spicier and shut down than Josmeyer’s remarkably showy, forward and ripe 2015 Brand Riesling. About 4,800 bottles were made. Josmeyer owns six parcels of vines in the Hengst (three of which are situated on the top crest). This beautiful wine boasts 3 g/L residual sugar and 13.5% alcohol. The grapes were harvested quite early, in mid-September, because the marly-calcareous soils and relatively warm microclimate of the Hengst cause the grape sugar to rise quickly. (Those who harvested later in 2015 than Josmeyer did generally made far richer, sweeter wines than this one from the same site.) Drink 2024-2037"
