STARWARD WHISKY WIN 15 GOLD MEDALS AT 2022 SAN FRANCISCO WORLD SPIRITS AWARDS
Australian distillery take home 15 Golds at the San Fran Spirit Awards, including 12 Double Gold Medals. Double Gold medals are awarded when the judges unanimously agree the spirit is of gold medal status.
Double Gold winner Octave Barrels embraces Starward's distinct red wine barrel aged characters by using famous Aussie winery, Yalumba's The Octavius Shiraz 100L casks which result in an intensive aging process and a bucket load of flavour.
The Starward projects range allows the distillers to play around and discover what they can with their spirit. The Octave release is fully matured in Amercan Oak Octaves that have been used for Yalumba's iconic Aussie Shiraz, The Octavius. The smaller barrels allow for a more intensive aging process which soaks up some red wine characters like rhubarb, plums and stewed orchard fruits. Richer notes of Sultanas, meringue and jam delight the senses in a well made, balanced dram. Octave has just picked up at Double Gold at the San Fran Spirit Awards, one of many for Starward.

Whisky for a curious, food-obsessed generation.
Starward is made in Melbourne. Not the outback. Or a sunshine-soaked beach. Melbourne is the foodie capital of Australia, full of casual brilliance. Here, Starward ditch the airs and graces and focus on flavour instead.
That's why they use red wine barrels to mature their whisky. They source all their whisky ingredients from just a day's drive away. Then, in the wildly varied Melbourne weather, the whisky draws out its signature fruity, delicious flavour in just three short years. Starward call this elemental maturation and it's why they couldn't make their whisky anywhere else.
Starward's Melburnian founder, David Vitale, grew up in a big Italian family. He's food obsessed without ever getting too serious or formal about it. And he knows his whisky feels right at home at those moments spent around the dinner table.
Raise a few eyebrows and bring a bottle to a BBQ. Pour it with tonic and watch jaws go to the floor. It's an eye-opening business, this new world of whisky drinking.
