In ancient Greece the Sileni were companions of Dionysus the god of good things - wine, vineyards and theatre. Sileni were always on hand to encourage enjoyment of delicious food, great wine and social interaction. Sileni wines are made to be great collaborators - they have an immediate likeability and a talent for enhancing flavours and textures.

A seasoned winemaker, Grant has over 30 years experience, including the position of chief winemaker for the Villa Maria Group and Esk Valley Estates. Grant now leads the Sileni winemaking and vineyard teams at Sileni, a passionate group of individuals dedicated to producing internationally acclaimed wines. Grant holds a Bachelor of Science from Auckland University, with a Post Graduate Diploma in Winemaking from the College of South Australia (Roseworthy). A love affair with Merlot, which began at Esk Valley Estates and was further fueled by a vintage at Chateau Pavie in St Emillon, spurred Grant to develop his own label, Redmetal, in 1996 and to join Sir Graeme to create Sileni from the ground up.
