Sam Weaver
Prior to establishing Churton, Sam honed his skills for over two decades in the wine industry including the retail, production and technical arenas. As a consultant winemaker both overseas and in New Zealand, Sam developed a deep understanding and respect for place. Coupled with a degree in microbiology, Samâs ability to coax the very best out of land and barrel is unparalleled. Samâs lineage is farming and he draws from this as Churton refines their biodynamic approach to grape growing.Sam is determined to create wines that capture the intensity of Marlborough flavour and aroma but refine them with length, texture and finesse. Winemaking stems from the vineyard and Samâs primary role is managing the micro biology of soil and canopy.
