Auckland's Herne Bay along with the surrounding neighbourhoods of St Mary's Bay, Ponsonby and Freemans Bay have a strong sense of community and our Glengarry Jervois Road and Dida's Wine & Tapas Lounge and, nestled side by side, reflects this. Housed in the original building where grandfather Jakicevich started his grocery store over 60 years ago, we are proud to say we're still here and part of the community. It's still a firm favourite with not only the Herne Bay locals, but with many residents from the surrounding areas as well as those heading home from the CBD towards the North Shore.
The Team
LEONARDO - Originally from the vibrant shores of Brazil, Leo has joined the team after learning from the best Sommeliers London restuarants have to offer. Come take a tour of our Fine Wine Cellar with him.
MONIQUE - Part of the Jakicevich family, Monique has worked for the family business for almost 12 years. Spending most of her time at Jervois Road, she is happy to be back and take on the family site once more.
MIKE - is great grandson of Glengarry founder Josef Jakicevich, and he brings with him all of the drive and commitment associated with the family's dedication to the brand.
ANA - Ana has jumped from Didas next door to join us in the wine shop. Wanting to learn all aspects of the family business including sampling a lot of wine, Ana is usually eyeing up the Champagne fridge.
SIMON - A trained and qualified lawyer, Simon has taken some time out to work with his great love - fine wine. With an expansive knowledge of all things French - you can usually find him opening something for tasting.
