TAWHIRI

The story of Tawhiri, God of Winds, is part of the creation mythology of the Maori people of New Zealand. Angered by Tane, God of the Trees, Tawhiri sent such fierce winds over the land that the forests cracked and fell, and the tree-dwelling fish had to seek refuge in the ocean.
