STAGS LEAP

Established in Napa Valley by Warren Winiarski in 1970, this is considered one of America’s First Growths, producing some of the world’s most sought-after wines. The 1973 vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon (the first produced at the estate and in commercial quantities) was rated the top wine at the historic ‘Judgment of Paris’ tasting in 1976.

This not only established the winery as an international star, but put California firmly on the winemaking map. In the 30th Anniversary Paris tasting with the same wines and vintages, the 1973 achieved second place, fully justifying the original result. Stag’s Leap is still a Cabernet specialist, producing wines with complex subtlety, elegance, structure, and great aging potential.
