Quinta de la Rosa winemaker, Jorge Moreira, regularly shows his wines alongside those of La Rosa, frequently attending wine fairs in the company of Tim and Sophia Bergqvist. They seem a perfect match and share so many ambitions. The latest Bergqvist wine adventure is a complete contrast to La Rosa, comprising more than 100 sun drenched hectares on the opposite bank to Vito Olazabal's famed Vale Meão in the Douro Alto. Quinta das Bandeiras represents a considerable investment, with more than 30 hectares already under vine, the quinta's inaugural wine is known as 'Passagem' and was launched in 2005. This 50:50 Bergqvist-Moreira joint venture symbolizes an exciting departure for the self effacing winemaker and a new milestone for the long established family firm. Bandeiras will contribute fruit filled wines with real personality and commercial appeal to a growing portfolio of award winning La Rosa D.O.C. stars.
