In 2004, there was a long maturation of the grapes, harvested late in September. This gave an intense aromatic expression and a great balance, almost aerial hence the name, which literally means “The Air”. Made from 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir, off four selected plots of limestone and chalk. First fermentation in oak barrels, no malolactic fermentation. Disgorged manually in 2017 with zero dosage. Just 18 bottles for New Zealand.
93/100 | Antonio Gallonio; “A very pretty vintage Champagne from Benoit Tarlant. Time in bottle has given the wine a bit more textural depth and overall intensity than it showed last year. Chardonnay-infused flavors make a strong first impression, before the presence of the red grapes becomes more evident on the mid-palate. The 2004 finishes with striking freshness and delicacy, but without robbing the wine of its essential richness.”
