The Takapuna faithful reconvened last week to try our way through some of the key red-wine making regions of France. Debates were held over the usefulness of the AOC system and how it would work in New Zealand. Lessons were learned about the differences between right and left bank Bordeaux, as well as some more practical ones like how Grenache-ing and driving might be a terrible idea, and how wearing a white jumper while presenting a tasting on red wines is an even worse one.
Above all though we tried some fabulous reds. The Cotes-du-Rhone wines in particular once again displayed their amazing value and range of flavours that aren't so readily available locally.
Thanks again to everyone who came and bore with me through some nervy beginnings!
