At Staete Landt we produce wine for the top end of the market, which is the segment of exclusive and (super) premium wines. With our team of passionate wine people we are highly committed to our land, our soils, our vines and our wines. We look after our vines and resources with great dedication in order to make wines that truly represent our unique terroir on the ‘Golden Mile’. Staete Landt wines are 100% Estate grown, handcrafted from the 21 hectare (52 acres) Estate. We do not source fruit from other vineyards, nor do we sell grapes to other vineyards. We believe the best wines are wines with personality, texture, complexity and great balance. This is what we aim to achieve in our vineyard and in our wines. Building a well respected brand for premium wine is a long term commitment that involves: high integrity making consistently great wines and making long-term commitments towards precious resources such as the use of land, vines and water.

Ruud Maasdam

With a love of wine, Ruud nurtured a dream of owning his own vineyard and creating wines that could take on the world, well before he ever decided to head for New Zealand. With his aim for perfection he sought land that could offer something a little different a locale that would allow him the opportunity to fulfil his dream of making individualistic wines. His attention to detail is renowned in winemaking circles, especially his desire to understand his vineyard and the composition of every metre of it. At the helm of Staete Landt he is very much hands on. He makes the wines and promotes not only his own brand but also the Marlborough wine growing region. Ruud is a member of the Wine Marlborough Board and holds a position on the marketing committee of New Zealand Winegrowers.
