Lake Hayes wines are a reflection of the land from which they’re grown — a bold, dynamic landscape that’s full of wow, everywhere you look. We source our grapes from carefully selected vineyards across Central Otago’s best growing areas and try to let that fruit express itself each vintage. The result? Wines that are young and lively, yet balanced and sophisticated. Delicious, early-drinking styles full of fresh, fruity appeal.

Sam Davies

Sam Davies winemaking experiences span the old world and the new having worked in Australia, New Zealand and Portugal. His arrival at Amisfield marks a return home to New Zealand from South Australia’s Adelaide Hills where he spent five years as Winemaker for Shaw & Smith, Tolpuddle and The Other Wine Company. His Southern hemisphere winemaking career includes time at Fox Creek Wines, Seppelt, Villa Maria, Xanadu, Obsidian and Stonyridge. He has also made wine over a number of vintages in Portugal’s Alentejo and Douro Valley wine regions. Sam hails from Auckland and graduated from Lincoln University with a Bachelor of Viticulture & Oenology in 2008. He now lives in Wanaka with his family.
