“Twelve years on, the region still excites me, as the diverse variety of high quality wines we can produce is astounding. As our vines get older the wines just keep getting better.”Married with two Children, Tony developed a love of wine after meeting his “wine loving wife!!”. He moved to Blenheim in 2000 and retrained in winemaking at the Marlborough Institute of Technology. His focus on boutique wine led him to stints at Fromm Winery in Marlborough, Flowers Vineyard and Winery in California and Cloudy Bay also in Marlborough.Upon his return to New Zealand in 2004, after a second harvest at Flowers, the position as Wine Maker at Brightwater Vineyards arose… and the rest is history!Tony was named “New Zealand Winemaker of the Year 2012”. (This award has only been won by a South Island winemaker once before.)
