BLANC DE BLANCS CHAMPAGNE | NON VINTAGE VS VINTAGE
Blanc de Blancs is one of our favourite styles of Champagne. Literally "white of whites", they are usually made from 100% Chardonnay and are one of the most elegant styles available. They are particularly well suited as an aperitif, and are perfect drinking in the New Zealand summer. Tonight our fine wine manager (And champagne aficionado!) Regan McCaffery, will be leading us through a tasting of four different fantastic brands, with almost all the wines coming from the top Grand Cru vineyards. From each house we'll be comparing their non vintage blend against the more expensive vintage wine. We'll be looking at the history and story behind each of them, as well as seeing how much of a quality difference there really is between the two levels. We will be tasting: Lilbert-Fils Grand Cru BDB NV, Lilbert-Fils Grand Cru BDB Cramant 2014, Drappier Quattuor Blanc de Quatre Blancs NV, Drappier Grand Cru BDB 2012, JL Vergnon Conversation Grand Cru BDB NV, JL Vergnon Confidence Grand Cru BDB Brut Nature 2010, Delamotte Grand Cru BDB, Delamotte Grand Cru BDB 2012.
