Join us for this tasting anywhere in New Zealand. If you haven't tasted AALTO, these are some of the finest (and most under-priced) red wines in the world. Established in 1999, the goal was to reach the quality of the best wines in the world within 20 years. They have achieved that, quickly rising to the upper echelons and being voted best wine of Spain several times. No surprise when the owner and winemaker had 30 years of experience at the helm of the most famous winery in the country. The legendary Mariano García Fernández was the Technical Director at the iconic Vega Sicilia from 1968 to 1998. AALTO is an extremely pure expression of 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), hand selected from a patchwork of tiny 40-80yr old low yielding organic plots, spread across the top villages and terroirs in Ribera del Duero. We will start with the rare La Comtesse Pazo Barrantes 2016, one of the greatest examples of Albariño in the world. Then we warm up with two vintages of AALTO, the 2017 and 2016. The final flight will be three vintages of the incredible AALTO PS. 2015/2016/2017. PS is a special selection from 60-100 year old vines, aged in 100% new French oak. These are powerful and intense wines with amazing balance and immense aging potential, yet they are still incredibly affordable for this quality.

Your ticket includes 50ml sample bottles of all wines. To ensure these samples reach you in safe and optimum condition, we will use the Coravin system to check for cork taint, the tasting bottles then filled under a veil of argon gas to minimise contact with air and prevent oxidation. The team will be using applicable protective practises when preparing the samples. They will then be dispatched to you before the tasting on Thursday evening. These are designed for short term storage, not for keeping in your cellar. Details will be included explaining how to set up your computer/phone/iPad to join the tasting, conducted via Zoom.
