WORLD'S GREATEST CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the worlds greatest red varieties, with exceptional complexity and aging potential. It is grown in every major wine producing country, across a diverse spectrum of climates. Tonight we shall be looking at some of the worlds finest and most expensive examples of Cabernet dominant blends, many of which have never been seen in New Zealand before. From Chile we have two brand new wines, Almaviva 2015 and Sena 2015 which are both 100 points from James Suckling. From the USA we will be tasting two new rare cult Californian wines, Cardinale 2014 from Napa Valley (98/100 Robert Parker) and Vérité La Joie 2014 from Sonoma County (97/100 Robert Parker). From extremely high vineyards in the Chinese Himalaya, we have the incredible story of Ao Yun 2014, the new project from Chateau Cheval Blanc. Of course we need some from our part of the world, starting with the first vintage of Yalumba's premium Coonawarra and Barossa blend The Caley 2012 (96+ Robert Parker). New Zealand is represented by it's most expensive red wine, Waiheke Island's Destiny Bay Magna Praemia 2008. It of course wouldn't be a worlds greatest tasting without a Bordeaux 1st Growth, as such we have Chateau Lafite Rothschild 2014 (98/100 James Suckling). This really will be an incredible evening of the some of the greatest wines ever produced, don't miss out!
