There are many defining moments in the history of Champagne and many colourful characters along the way. In amongst these stories and now almost legends lies Veuve Clicquot. It is in all probability one of the most recognised brands in the world today. Veuve Clicquot was founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot from an existing vineyard; his ambition was to cross borders and true to his word the first shipment was to Venice. The matriarch Madame Clicquot took over the reins of the house in 1805 with the untimely death of her husband thus becoming the first business woman of the times. There were many firsts throughout the career of Madame Clicquot and some of the practices that were implemented are still in use today. We intend to taste through the whole range of Veuve Clicquot and share the colourful history of this illustrious Champagne House.
