The Calvert Vineyard is one of the finest sites in New Zealand for growing Pinot Noir. One of our 'Grand Crus' one might say! Situated on Felton Road in Bannockburn Central Otago, it provides the most interesting case study of terroir we have, with a number of different producers over the years making a top qualty wine from this site. Tonight we have a very rare event, for the first time we have the vineyard owner himself, Owen Calvert is here to take us through the history, geology and evolution of this incredible vineyard. As well as showcasing his namesake wine, Calvert Bannockburn Pinot Nor 2018. He will be joined by his winemaker Sarah Burton, who happens to also be married to Blair Walter of Felton Road, so she has a particularly in depth knowledge of the wines made here. She will also present the Felton Road Calvert Pinot Noir 2018. Last but not least, we have Jim White, the technical director from Cloudy Bay. It's a little known secret that an important part of the blend of their iconic wine, Cloudy Bay Te Wahi Pinot Noir, comes from the Calvert Vineyard.
