High atop a windswept cliff at the southernmost point of the North Island the Cape Palliser Lighthouse stands lonely watch over Cook Strait. Its light has served as a waypoint for seafarers since 1897. Lighthouse Gin, inspired by the famous landmark, has similarly been lighting the way for lovers of great gin since 2005. This makes the gin a much more recent arrival than the actual lighthouse of course, but places it nevertheless in the very early days of New Zealand’s obsession with craft gins.
