TAKAPUNA WINECLUB | DOG POINT VINEYARD WITH MATT SUTHERLAND
Since 2002 Dog Point Vineyard have earned local and international acclaim for their take on classic Marlborough wines. Certified organic and with a passion for regional distinctiveness, Dog Point are also known and unusual for their focus being on just three varieties; Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. For this tasting we will taste their expressions of these classic varieties, and with a spotlight on their barrel fermented and aged Sauvignon Blanc - the Section 94. Produced from some of the oldest vines in Marlborough, the Section 94 is a unique style of wine that not only is markedly different in tasting profile from a more "traditional" New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, but one can also be cellared and aged. To demonstrate this we will be delighted to host Dog Point Vineyard's Matt Sutherland to take us through a vertical tasting of the Section 94, along with their Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and a look at two vintages of Pinot Noir.
Tonight we'll be tasting; Dog Point Section 94 Sauvignon Blanc 2015, Dog Point Pinot Noir 2016, Dog Point Chardonnay 2016, Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc 2018, Dog Point Section 94 Sauvignon Blanc 2012, Dog Point Section 94 Sauvignon Blanc 2009, and Dog Point Pinot Noir 2009.
