A tasting long in the planning, in Wellington on this night, we will be trying some of the greatest wines of Italy. We have been expanding our Italian selection in recent years and now have an fantastic range to explore. We start with the top wine from the finest sparkling wine producer in the country, Ca' del Bosco's beautiful Anna-Maria Clementi Franciacorta 2006. We will then have two Super Tuscans, with the famous Ornellaia 2013 and Sassicaia 2012. We round off middle Italy with the fabled Biondi-Santi Brunello di Montalcino Annata 2011. From Veneto, the Mai Dire Mai Amarone 2010, a style that has been made since Romans times. Then we reach Piedmonte, and the Queen and King of Italian wine, Barbareso and Barolo. Beginning with a wine from the most awarded estate in all of Italy by the famed Gambero Rosso wine guide. 2013 Gaja Barbareso. It is always a very rare chance to drink a Gaja wine. From Barolo we look at one of the most revered vineyards of all, with the Gianni Gagliardo Cannubi Barolo 2005. We finish the evening with one of the mythical Red Label Barolo Riservas, from the legendary Bruno Giacosa. Barolo Falleto Vigna Le Rocche Riserva 2011. This will be an incredible evening of wine.
