The soil throbs with heat, the mountains glower in purple haze, and huge volumes of ripe, rich, fruit-forward wines issue forth seemingly at will. The most New World of Frances regions, we get to enjoy superb expressions of Syrah, Chardonnay et al, as well as the brilliant indigenous rosés and reds for which the region has always been known.
