ERADUS
A note from the owners: The Eradus Wine Label was established in 2002 with a Sauvignon Blanc and a total production of 450 cases. We have been lucky and things have gone well since, to the point where we now produce 15,000 cases across Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris. If I were to try and identify a definitive and quantifiable success factor for our wines it would have to be the place we grow our grapes.
The Awatere Valley is a special place with its own special microclimate. This in addition to our vineyard comprising a series of undulating terraces with varying microclimates and soils lends to wines with complexity, intrigue and a certain unique characters. The characters I mention are a mineral and flinty backbone, in addition to clean and racy acidity followed by a crisp and lingering finish. Over the years the flavour of the wine will vary depending on the vintage but the abovementioned characters will always set out wines apart.
Michiel & Hanna
A short message from Eradus about their team: Team Eradus Wines comprises Michiel & Hanna (mum & dad), Poppy & Ana (our beautiful daughters) and Homer (the dog). Hanna & I met while working in Amsterdam back in 2001 and after a great stint of European life we made the decision to move back home. An initial move to Auckland was short lived as an opportunity arose to move to Marlborough and work on the family vineyard. The transition from IT and Banking to vineyard life was smooth, and more importantly enjoyable and rewarding. Getting married in 2003 was soon followed by taking over the reigns of Eradus Wines. Great things have happened since then, in particular the birth of Poppy and Ana. The team is completed by viticulturist extraordinaire, Jeremy Hyland.
